Just got back from a trip to L.A. where we visited our friend Shaun Evaristo at his dance studio Movement Lifestyle. Beautiful space filled with even more beautiful people. We were lucky enough to be invited to create the mural and they gave us a prime spot. It's front and center greets the dancers as they walk in. How cool is that??? Thanks to Shaun and his team for being amazing, generous and inspiring partners.
There are a lot of things I love about letterpress printing. The simplicity, the craft, the practice. The quality of the materials, the machines, the tools and how highly specialized they are. The wood type and how each letter was carved by hand. The fact that the craft is both mathematically precise and filled with inaccuracies.
There are some days while printing where the ink flows and other days that are filled with quirks. Part of the process includes setting everything up and sending a print through to see where things are at. Most of the time there's at least a little bit of adjusting. The following prints are what results when I use the same pieces of paper to print and reprint during the adjustment process.
Pretty neat, right?
